Oceanic Eco Tours specializes in San Diego dolphin and whale watching excursions. We look forward to welcoming you onboard one of our trips. Join us in support of our goals of cetacean research and conservation. The company was founded on the principles of responsible tourism, sustainability, and individual attention to our guests. Weather permitting, our tours depart regularly from beautiful Seaforth Marina in Mission Bay. Click on “Book Now” to see our calendar of available bookings. We limit the number of guests on our tours to a maximum of 6 guests to ensure everyone ample room to enjoy observing the amazing marine wildlife we encounter on our San Diego dolphin and whale watching tours. We offer affordable private tours, if you prefer special attention or just want the boat to yourself.

Our staff of Naturalist Captains and Guides have years of experience leading guests on marine excursions in many locations worldwide. We look forward to sharing our knowledge, experience, and observations during our whale and dolphin watching tours. Our staff includes; USCG certified Captains and marine wildlife experts. As a team, our efforts support research and conservation of the dolphins and whales in San Diego.

Our whale watching boat is a 2018 Key West 239FS. A 24ft offshore deep v-hull boat with a brand new, low emission 250hp Yamaha motor. Our boat is nimble and fast enough to reach whale and dolphin viewing locations quickly. We limit the number of guests to a maximum of 6, so everyone has a comfortable and cushioned seat. You will enjoy the low to the water viewing angle–the dolphins seem so close! There is room to move around and a stereo system that we can connect to a hydrophone, just in case we get to listen to whales and dolphins. We have invested in the newest engine technology for security and to limit our emissions, noise, and impact on the cetaceans and their marine environment. Please note that due to the low profile and open exposure of the boat we recommend warm clothing and layers during all seasons. Even in the summer, you can feel a chill on the ocean. We do our best to avoid it, but it is possible to get wet, so please plan accordingly. Additionally, due to fast speeds and occasional bumps on the ocean, we do not recommend our tours for people with back and neck problems.

Our dolphin and whale watching tours may be the most complete experience offered in San Diego. We hope to inspire all of our guests with the value and approach we offer:

  1. Maximum of 6 guests on tours – avoid the crowds
  2. Expanded Range – better chance for encounters
  3. Free Tour Photos – relax and immerse yourself in the experience
  4. Marine Hydrophone – listen to the dolphins and whales (use is subject to conditions and other factors)
  5. Naturalist Guides – you can learn about cetaceans
